Here's how to create an all-purpose Actor Resume.

Included below are easy, step-by-step instructions and a free printable resume template.

Don't forget to include a crisp, clear, color photo to the left OR right of your heading.

Send your resume, along with a brief, well worded Intro Letter, to agents, producers, casting directors, and other industry professionals.

Bring your resume to all auditions and casting calls.

How to Build Your Actor Resume

Centered at the top of the page should be your name, email address, phone number, height, weight, hair color and eye color, like this, for example:

Joe Actorman

joeactorman@joeactorman.com

555-111-2222

Ht: 5'10" - Wt: 180

hair: red - eyes: green

This covers almost everything a casting director needs to know about you. It's best not to include your age.

Next, skip three spaces and list your qualifications. These will include any film or theater you've done, plus training, skills and awards.

If you have mad skills but no training or experience, get training and some small amount of experience, even if the training is nothing more than three private lessons from a local actor, and the experience consists of bosking on the sidewalk and hitting local open mics.

Here's how a list of qualifications might look on a professional Resume:

FILM

(list each film or TV credit like this)

Name of Movie

Role (e.g. lead, costar / name of character)

Producer

THEATER

(list each stage credit like this)

Name of Venue

Name of Play

Role (e.g. lead, costar / name of character)

Producer

TRAINING

(list each school or trainer like this)

School and/or Trainer Name

Degree earned, if any

Also, list all areas of study. These may include Scene Study, Movement, Shakespeare, Improv, Screen Acting, Camera Angles and Set Design, to name just a few examples.

SKILLS

List anything you can do that might be fun to watch or hear. Applicable skills include singing, songwriting, dancing, playing musical instruments, regional accents (list them), stand up comedy and juggling, among others.

AWARDS

List any awards, achievements, or distinctions related to the performing arts.

That's all there is to writing an outstanding professional Actor Resume. For further assistance, see the links and resume checklist below.
