How to Build Your Resume

Centered at the top of the page should be your name, street address, email address and phone number, like this, for example:

Diana Dinero

1234 State Street, Somewhere, West Virginia 26111

ddinero@ddinero.com

555-111-2222

Next, skip a space or two and type

CASHIER

centered and capitalized, as shown.

Then skip two spaces and list your qualifications.

These will include any experience you have in the handling of money, plus relevant previous employment.

If you don't have any training or experience, cheerfully mention your willingness to learn in a well written intro letter, and offer to provide character references.

Another option is to accept a job in a business where you might later be promoted to a cashiering position.

For instance, many workers land jobs bagging and stocking shelves at supermarkets before qualifying to become cashiers.

Here's how a list of qualifications might look on a professional Cashier's Resume:

EDUCATION

(list each school like this, starting with your most recent educational experience)

Name of School

Degree Earned, if any

EMPLOYMENT

(list each job like this, starting with your most recent position)

From-To Dates

Name of Business

Responsibilities

Reason for Leaving

Employer Name / Employer Contact info

SKILLS

On a Cashier Resume, list anything you can do that is relevant to counting or handling money.

Applicable skills may include fast math, accuracy, detail orientation, and customer service.

You can also list helpful personal traits like punctuality, reliability, and high level organizational skills, for example.

Believe it or not, that's all there is to writing an outstanding professional resume for employment as a cashier in a retail environment.
