The animals of the Eastern Zodiac are the Rat, the Ox the Tiger, the Rabbit (a.k.a. Hare), the Dragon, the Snake, the Horse, the Ram (a.k.a. sheep or goat), the Monkey, the Rooster, the Dog and the Pig. The Chinese Zodiac is similar to the Western Zodiac in that each symbol represents a different personality type. Monkey people are generally known to be cheerful, energetic, clever, generous and highly intelligent problem-solvers. Rat people are quick witted and loyal. Rabbit people tend to have sweet dispositions and avoid confrontations. Tiger people are thought to be natural born leaders who thrive on competition and perform well under pressure. Ox people are patient and caring, with a tendency toward stubbornness. Dragons are talented, self-assured and temperamental. Snakes can be sexy and sophisticated, bewitching observers with their charm. Ram people are creative, artistic and often impractical. Pig people are known for their patience and trustworthiness, as well as their desire for peace and quiet. Shown to your right are the Chinese characters that represent each of the 12 animal zodiac signs. Shown below are a number of interesting variations of a Chinese zodiac wheel, which shows the symbols and indicates the birth years associated with each symbol.
