COLONIAL REVIVAL: A Neo-Georgian style of architecture characterized by multiple stories and front facing symmetry, often adorned with elaborate front doors.

COLONNADE: A row of columns.

COLUMN: A rounded vertical structural piece that supports overhead weight. Home designers often incorporate columns into kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom designs.

COMBINATION LOCK: A lock that requires a unique code to open. The code typically involves turning a dial to a sequence of numeric positions.

COMBINATION SQUARE: A multipurpose construction tool whose components include a ruler blade, a protractor, and various other attachable parts.

COMBINATION WRENCH: A wrench with a box head at one end and an enclosed head an the other end.

COMBUSTION AIR: Air that is channeled from the outside to a furnace or hot water heater.

COMBUSTION CHAMBER: The "engine" of a boiler or furnace, where the burning takes place.

COMMON NAIL: A long, straight, multipurpose nail with a broad, flat head.

Used for countless construction jobs, from fence building to fully renovated bathroom, kitchen, living room, and bedroom designs.

COMPASS SCRIBER: The kind of compass that helps draw circles, as opposed to the kind of compass that indicates direction.

COMPLUVIUM: An opening in the roof of an atrium

COMPOSITION BOARD: An engineered wood product manufactured from wood shavings, wood pulp, and other plant fibers.

Lighter and less expensive than solid wood, composition board is often used in bath and bedroom designs for shelving and other purposes.

COMPRESSION WEB: A supporting part of a truss configuration.

COMPRESSOR: A mechanical device designed to pressurize gases. The main component of conventional heating pumps and air conditioners.

CONCH HOUSE: A small, wood framed house set on a post-and-pier foundation, with a porch running the full length of the front of the house. 

Conch homes tend to feature modest living room and bedroom designs, as the rooms are generally smaller. 

The conch house design originated in Florida during the 19th century.

CONCRETE: An adhesive compound made by mixing Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water.

Concrete is used for all types of construction work, including bathroom, kitchen, and bedroom designs.

For bigger jobs than bedroom designs, the concrete is often reinforced with rebars or wire mesh.

CONCRETE BLOCK: A hollow piece of concrete used for building. A standard concrete block measures 8x8x16 inches.
