The Eastern Zodiac contains twelve different animal symbols. They are the Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit (also known as Hare), Dragon, Snake, Horse, Ram (also known as sheep or goat), Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig (also known as Boar).

The Chinese Zodiac is similar to the Western Zodiac in that each symbol represents a different personality type.

* Rat people are quick witted and loyal.

* Ox people are patient and caring, with a tendency toward stubbornness.

* Tiger people are thought to be natural born leaders who thrive on competition and perform well under pressure.

* Rabbit people tend to have sweet dispositions and avoid confrontations.

* Dragons are talented, self-assured and temperamental.

* Snake people can sometimes have an effortless sensual appeal. They are smart and sophisticated, bewitching observers with their charm.

* Horse people are thought to be energetic, ambitious, intelligent and fond of travel. They can also be temperamental. They fall in love easily.

* Goat people are creative, artistic and often impractical. They can also be moody and dislike being pressured.

* Monkey people are generally known to be cheerful, energetic, clever, generous and highly intelligent problem-solvers.

* People born in a year of the Rooster are direct, forthright and persistent. They can also be domineering and opinionated.

* It is said that Dog people are tenacious, intelligent, honorable and faithful, but can worry to much and have a tendency to nag.

* Pig people are known for their patience and trustworthiness, as well as their desire for peace and quiet.
