UKRAINIAN BAROQUE - U VALUE


UKRAINIAN BAROQUE: An architectural style that was popular during the 17th and 18th centuries. 

One of the most typical surviving examples of Ukrainian Baroque architecture is St. Michael's Golden Domed Monastery in Kiev.

UNDERCOAT: A coating that is applied to walls, underneath the top coats of paint. Sometimes called the primer

The undercoat is considered important in many DIY Home Remodeling projects, as it hides any marks on the walls that might show through the top coat. 

However, and undercoat is not always needed for DIY Home Remodeling, if you use a high quality top coat paint brand such as Sherwin Williams.

UNDERGROUND PLUMBING: Plumbing drain and waste lines installed under a basement floor.

UNDERLAYMENT: A thin material placed between the plywood subfloor and the finishing floor layer.

UNION: A plumbing fitting that joins pipes end to end, but can easily be dismantled for maintenance. Makes DIY home remodeling so much easier.

UP TO CODE: A building whose construction satisfies all local building codes.

It is crucial to remain up to code when DIY home remodeling, as doing so will increase the price of the house if/when you decide to sell it.

USONIAN: A word invented by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, regarding his architectural vision for the American landscape. 

"Usonian" most often refers to a collection of about 60 homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and built between 1937 and 1958. These homes are typically single-story structures with no garage.
