FRENCH TOAST
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 large egg
- 1 Tbsp milk
- 1 pinch nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 2 slices bread
- 1 Tbsp maple syrup
DIRECTIONS:
- Break the egg into a shallow dish.
- Add milk, nutmeg, and vanilla to the egg and beat until blended.
- Melt the butter in a large skillet.
- Soak bread in egg mixture, and place slices in buttered skillet.
- Cook both sides of the bread slices until brown and crisp.
- Top with maple syrup and serve hot.
If desired, you can add fresh fruits such as sliced banana, sliced strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries.
You can also enjoy French Toast with sausage, bacon, or ham.
DEVILED EGGS
INGREDIENTS:
- 6 large eggs
- 1 tsp prepared mustard
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 2 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 2 large olives, sliced (black or green)
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- chopped parsley (optional)
DIRECTIONS:
- Place eggs in a pan and fill the pan with just enough water to cover the eggs.
- Bring water to a boil, then turn off the heat, cover the pan, and leave it on the burner for 8 minutes.
- Drain hot water and fill the pan with cold water to cover the eggs.
- Peel the eggs.
- Cut each egg in half lengthwise with a sharp knife.
- Remove the yolks carefully from each egg half, and place the yolks in a small dish.
- Add mustard, salt, pepper, and mayo to the yolks, and mix well with a fork.
- Return mixture to the egg whites.
- Top each egg half with a slice of olive.
- Sprinkle each egg half with paprika, and add chopped parsley if desired.
